Just in case you had not caught this. Please read.

Based on feedback from the last three tournaments, we have moved away from smaller pool sizes in order to give players the chance to play with additional teams. 

As a result, the number of games and points you will play per round will depend on the size of your pool. Details below. 

Match Formats:

These M&W Doubles Championship Series tournaments are played in two segments:

Initial Pool Play

Teams are placed into Pools of up to 9 teams
Each team plays all other teams within their pool
Match format is dependent on bracket size
Pool sizes of 2 will play 3 out of 5 games to 11
Pool sizes of 3 or 4 will play 2 out of 3 games to 11
Pool sizes of 5 or more will play 1 game to 15
Pool sizes of 9 will play 1 game to 11

Pool standings and tiebreakers within and across pools for playoff spots are based on:

Number of wins

1. Head-to-Head Matchup (If Applicable)
2. Average point differential
3. Average points won per game
4. Average points lost per game
5. Coin toss by tournament official
    

Playoff Round(s)

Top finishers from pool play will advance to the playoff round(s) as follows based on the number of pools in the division.

3 teams = 1 pool - top 2 teams go to a final match

4 teams = 1 pool - top 2 teams go to a final match

5 teams = 1 pool - top 2 teams go to a final match

6 teams = 1 pool - top 2 teams go to a final match

7 teams = 1 pool - top 2 teams go to a final match

8 teams= 1 pool of 8 teams-Top 4 teams from the pool move to a semi-final match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a final match

9 teams = 1 pool of 9 - top 4 teams go to semifinal playoff match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a final match.

10 teams - 2 pools of 5 - top 2 teams from each pool go to semifinal playoff match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a final match.

11 teams - 1 pool of 5, 1 pool of 6 - top 2 teams from each pool go to semifinal playoff match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a final match.

12 teams - 2 pools of 6 - top 2 teams from each pool go to semifinal playoff match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a final match.

13 teams - 1 pool of 7, 1 pool of 6 - top 2 teams from each pool go to semifinal playoff match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a final match.

14 teams - 2 pools of 7 - top 2 teams from each pool go to semifinal playoff match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a final match.

15 teams - 3 pools of 5 - top 2 teams from each pool and 2 “Wild Card” teams chosen from the tiebreaker system across all pools goes to a quarter final match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a semifinal playoff match (1 game to 15, win by 1) and finishing with a final match.

16 teams= 2 pools of 8 teams-Top 4 teams from each pool will advance to a quarterfinal match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a semifinal match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a final match.

17 teams= 1 pool of 5, 2 pools of 6- Top 2 teams from each pool and 2 “wild card” teams chosen from the tiebreaker system across all pools will advance to a quarter final match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a semifinal match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a final match.

18 teams= 3 pools of 6- top 2 teams from each pool and and 2 “wild card” teams chosen from the tiebreaker system across all pools will advance to a quarter final match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a semifinal match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a final match.

19 teams= 2 pools of 6, one pool of 7- top 2 teams from each pool and and 2 “wild card” teams chosen from the tiebreaker system across all pools will advance to a quarter final match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a semifinal match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a final match.

20 teams= 4 pools of 5- top 2 teams from each pool will advance to a quarter final match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a semifinal match (1 game to 15, win by 1) followed by a final match.
 

All Final Matches are 2/3 games to 11, win by 2.

Third place finishers are determined by:

Applying the tiebreaker rules (see below) to all teams across all pools when there is no Semi Final Match
Assessing the Point Differential for the 2 losing teams involved in the Semifinal Matches. Lower point differential between the two teams (based solely on the finals match) wins Third Place.

Selecting Side and Serve:

Before the start of play, one team member will hold a “1” or a “2” behind their back.  A member of the opposing team will guess the number.  Whichever team “wins” gets to make the choice of choosing a side to start the match from, choosing to serve first (or second), or deferring to the other team to make the choice of side/serve.

Court Side:

All 2/3 game matches are played with players remaining on the same side of the court for all of Game 1 and switching to play all of Game 2 from the opposite side of the court. In Game 3 (if needed) players start on the same side of the court they played Game 1 from and then players switch sides when either team reaches 6 points.

All one game matches to 15 are played with players switching sides when either team reaches 8 points

There are 6 main tabs on the site:

1. Overview - Go here to see the high level details about the event, read priority news posts about the event and even link directly to registration when needed.
2. Registration - Go here to register for an the event, modify team/player details, change skill levels, or withdraw your team from the tournament
3. Teams - Go here to view all teams within a specific Division (any Division in the tournament) and to see the statistics related to the Division Standings (wins/losses, winning %, average point differential)
   1. Use the filters to find the Division you want to view
   2. Use the Player Lookup feature to find the right Division for any player in the tournament
4. Schedules and Scores - Go here to view the planned and completed match schedule for a Division
   1. Use the additional filters to view data for a specific Round, a specific Pool, a specific Team
5. Playoffs - Go here to view the playoff bracket view for any Divisions that that have started the playoff segment of the event
6. News - Go here to view all News Posts that have been created related to the tournament

Arrival Times are listed below for all Divisions that are being played this weekend.  

Please arrive at or before this time to be ready for your event to start.  

We will have a Briefing Meeting 15 minutes after the scheduled Arrival Time and Matches will start immediately following the Briefing Meeting.  

All teams will be provided with a brief warm up time on the court prior to their first match of the day.

Note to Division Winners from the March 2025 M/W Doubles Championship Series event:

Please note that your eligibility to participate in a second iteration of the same event type (Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, or the Team event) at your local club may be affected.

Click HERE for all the details, but are a few key rules to keep in mind:

❌ No Repeat Entries at the Same Level:
If you won a Skill Level/Age Group at a specific Championship Series event, you may not enter again at that same level in another event of the same type. This ensures others have a fair chance to qualify.

✅ Play Again—At a Higher Level:
You may enter the same event type again with the same partner if you move up by 0.5 in Skill Level. This gives returning champions a chance to stay in the competition while challenging themselves and leveling up.

Welcome to the new APC Championship Series tournament management system.  We look forward to bringing all players an enhanced tournament experience through the use of this new software.  Some of the benefits members will experience within the new system are:

• Ability to see all members/teams that have registered for the event including the Skill Level and Age Group each player is registered for. 
• Ability to edit your own team prior to the registration End Date – including changing your partner, changing your Skill Level/Age group, and withdrawing your team entirely if needed. 
• Ability to monitor your team’s status on the Waitlist if your target Division was already at capacity at your time of registration. 
• More straightforward communications that automatically are emailed to all members of the team at registration and when any change is made to the team. 

We are excited to launch these new Registration-oriented features and many other features such as viewing all players’ Pool Assignments, Match Schedules, Standings, Scoring and other information as these tournament milestones are reached.

Along with these technology features, we are also responding to member feedback by expanding the Pool sizes within the tournament so that teams will have the opportunity to play against more teams during Pool Play.
